@Stephanie - thx & agreed

@Julie - thx, but be careful with the new SocMed abbreviation - some people will think you're talking about something in social medicine rather than media ;-)

@Kevin - super & you're welcome

Awesome Glenn! An open line engagement and a focus on the people and not the immediate outcome. Refreshing and where I too believe SocMed not only needs to go, but is going. Your post is one that I think I will be reading and re-reading. Thanks!

@Karla - many thx & if it leads to socnet strategy discussions at employer(s) you work with, pls. tell me what happens

@Adam - absolutely! Recruiters can/should contribute, but if the goal is authenticity, who better to talk the talk than those who directly relate to the kinds of talent you want to attract?

Awesome post Glenn, I especially liked your approach to employee-generated blogs. In addition to giving an interactive feel to your company's website, it also gives employees a chance to switch up their daily routine and really make an impact!

I completely agree with Groundwells logic. I saw a video he created several months ago where he took several highly regarded electronics and discussed how great they each were on their own but them threw them all into a blender and blended them all into electronic dust. I got a chuckle out of it but it is all so true. (I wish I still had the link to that video but I can't find it now). Using every technology out there wont do you any good if you don't use them wisely and to the best of your advantage and just because they are out there doesn't mean that everyone should use them. It is all based on the needs of each individual business.

Great Post Glen.

This is exactly the comprehensive and well constructed type of example that Recruiters and companies can use to open discussion about and form their own strategies for social networking. Thank you for sharing this Glenn, I enjoyed it very much!

@Ryan - thanks and fully agree
@Sarah - I think you bump into at least as many cool companies as I do. If you have suggestions of other best practice operations, please forward.

Glenn - Very cool post and super informative. I think an important point is for companies to understand that this type of approach truly "Shifts power from institutions to people? (e.g., Wikipedia)" as you mentioned. Regardless if they want it to happen or not, it already has.
